The partnership focuses on exploring digital technologies related to smart yards and smart ships, encompassing safety, cyber resilience, autonomous operations, remote control, and innovative smart functions developed by Hanwha Ocean. These technologies aim to revolutionise shipyard production, leveraging tools like augmented reality/virtual reality, 3D plan review, simulation, modelling, and digital twins to enhance health, safety, and quality processes in shipyards.

Patrick Ryan, ABS Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, highlighted ABS’s role in advancing safety and quality standards amid this technological revolution. Joong Kyoo Kang, Vice President and Head of the R&D Institute at Hanwha Ocean, expressed eagerness to collaborate on projects like HS4, Hanwha Ocean’s smart ship solution, which aims to enhance the safe and economic operation of vessels.
