The ship, which boasts 16 floors and 40,000 square meters of public living and recreation space, is scheduled for its first commercial voyage on January 1, 2024, initially covering routes in Northeast Asia, with plans to expand to China-Southeast Asia routes later on.

Four New Purus Gas Carriers to Operate with Wärtsilä Cargo Handling Systems

The new electric ferries are set to significantly reduce Auckland Transport’s annual fuel consumption by about 1.5 million litres, leading to an estimated decrease of around 4,000 metric tons of CO2e emissions annually. Murray Burt, Chief Engineer at Auckland Transport, highlighted the importance of this project, stating, “It was critical to combine ABB’s global support capabilities and strong local presence for a project that will transform Auckland’s ferry services.”

AT has ordered two 200-seat all-electric ferries and two 300-passenger hybrid-electric ferries, expected to be operational between 2024 and 2025.
